Sign Up For Free PUPROAR is a small e-commerce business that sells dog and cat toys, one of their most popular items being a plushie version of a popular water bottle. We spoke with Jason Ross about his experience expanding PUPROAR to TikTok Shop after selling on Amazon for a year. The TikTok Shop Opportunity After hearing from other people about their success on TikTok, Jason was curious about selling on the platform as well. Since his operations were already well-established from selling on Amazon, there was no financial commitment or risk to selling on TikTok. Jason figured that if it went well, that would be great, but if it didn’t, at least he wouldn’t be risking any losses apart from the time spent setting up his listings on TikTok Shop. “It was a no-brainer to sell our Amazon listings on TikTok shop – worst case it was a low time commitment to set up, best case we have a new profitable channel.” Jason Ross, Owner of PUPROAR How the PUPROAR Team Approached Expanding to TikTok Shop Since Jason was planning to sell his existing products (rather than launching new ones on TikTok Shop), he was able to re-use the existing copy and photos from his Amazon listings when setting up his TikTok listings. Additionally, he was already fulfilling orders from his Shopify store, so fulfilling his orders on TikTok didn’t require any changes to his existing workflow. Results from Selling on TikTok In his first year selling on TikTok, 10-20% of his total e-commerce sales came from the platform, with higher margins than what he earned on Amazon. By expanding his sales to TikTok Shop and leveraging TikTok creators, Jason also saw a significant halo effect on his Amazon sales, which has helped to improve PUPROAR’s organic rank on Amazon. Although he had been concerned about needing to make content on TikTok, he was glad to discover that this wasn’t necessary because of the thousands of affiliates already on TikTok looking for products to promote.
